The Hutt Valley is the closest of my regions to home, and travel across Upper and Lower Hutt is included at no extra cost. It's an underrated spot for weddings: the Petone foreshore with its harbour views, the Hutt River trails, and the native bush of the Remutaka Forest Park all sit within easy reach of the valley's venues.

I've photographed celebrations at arts venues like Expressions Whirinaki and The Dowse Art Museum, at established settings such as Manor Park and Silverstream Retreat, and out at the lakes of Te Marua. The valley often offers better value than central Wellington while keeping easy transport links for guests, and there's no shortage of green, light-filled spaces for portraits between the ceremony and the party.
